RIYADH — The Musaned dThe omestic worker services platform reiterated that the salary transfer of domestic workers, who come to Saudi Arabia for the first time, will be deposited into their digital wallets from July 1, 2024.
The Musaned platform, under the The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) emphasized that no one other than the employer can transfer the salary at the end of each Hijri year. Salary is deposited by accessing the House Staff Salaries icon in the approved digital wallets of new House Staff.
The digital salary transfer can take place after issuing a residence permit (iqama) for the domestic helper and completing the documentation procedures. The Musaned platform noted that the employer’s wife or relatives are not allowed to digitally transfer salaries on their behalf. This is mainly because all employee data is digitally linked to the employer.
The new service also makes it possible to transfer an advance on your salary; advance payment of part of the salary; and salary deduction or increase to the employees’ digital wallet. The benefits of transferring wages through electronic channels include reducing cash transactions, improving the working environment for domestic workers and facilitating the process of paying domestic workers’ salaries quickly, easily and reliably.
The platform pointed out that the wage to which the employer must adhere is the wage agreed by both parties in the employment contract, and it will be paid at the end of each Hijri month unless the two parties agree otherwise in writing, while complying with the regulations and instructions issued regarding wage protection.
Regarding the possibility of transfer of salaries of domestic workers through banks when a bank account is available for domestic workers, the Musaned revealed that if the worker falls within the category obligated to the Wage Protection Program, the transfer must be made through the approved channels . including banks. However, if the employee does not fall into the mandatory category, the employer can pay the wages in cash or by cheque. However, this must be documented in writing or via the domestic helper’s pay card, unless the employee wants to transfer it to a specific bank account.
The platform noted that the transfer via the Domestic Worker Salaries icon is intended to ensure that the financial rights of domestic workers and employers are preserved, thus enabling employers to transfer monthly salaries through payment channels linked to the Wage Protection Initiative and save their salaries on the Musaned platform.
it is remarkable that the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has established the Musaned platform as an official website for domestic services and work-from-home programs, outlining the rights and obligations of the employee and the employer. It is one of the initiatives to develop the recruitment sector in the Kingdom, as the platform offers multiple services to improve and facilitate the recruitment process, as well as to resolve complaints and disputes that may arise between the contracting parties, in addition to protecting their rights. The ministry introduced the transfer of domestic worker services between individual employers through the Musaned platform in August last year.
