Sean Dunne (26), currently out of Clover Hill Prison, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault causing harm to a man and a woman on April 7, 2023, at the Ashling Hotel, Parkgate Street, Dublin. The court heard that Dunne approached the two tourists, who were visiting Ireland from California, as they were getting off the lift on the seventh floor of the hotel. He punched the man in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. He then punched the woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. The tourists were both taken to hospital for treatment. The man suffered a fractured cheekbone and a cut to his lip. The woman suffered a fractured nose and a cut to her eyebrow. Dunne fled the scene but was later arrested by gardaí. He has been in custody since his arrest. At a sentencing hearing today, Judge Martin Nolan adjourned the case to May 12 for the preparation of a probation report. He remanded Dunne in custody until that date.
