Meeting of the District Health BoardMeeting of the District Health Board The District Health Board held a public meeting on Monday, June 12th, at the Orcasonian Community Center. The meeting was called to order by Chairwoman Susannah Scott at 7:00pm. The first order of business was the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting. The minutes were approved unanimously. The Board then heard a presentation from the Health Officer, Dr. Sarah Jones, on the current state of health in the district. Dr. Jones reported that overall, the health of the population is good, but there are some areas of concern. These include: * A high rate of obesity and related chronic diseases * A lack of access to affordable health care * A shortage of mental health professionals The Board discussed these concerns and began to develop strategies to address them. The next item on the agenda was a discussion of the district’s budget. The Board reviewed the budget and made some minor adjustments. The budget was then approved unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:00pm.
