A driver was injured Monday when the car he was driving ran a stop sign and was struck by a Kansas City Police SUV, authorities said. A blue Ford Explorer, marked as a police vehicle, was traveling north on Woodland Avenue through the intersection at East 57th Street when a white Mitsubishi Endeavor entered the intersection, Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a spokesman for the KCPD, said Monday. The Endeavor failed to stop at the stop sign when the SUV drove through the intersection and the SUV struck the car, DiMartino said. The driver of the Mitsubishi was taken to a local hospital where he is in stable condition, DiMartino said. The driver’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening and no one else was in the car. The driver of the police SUV, along with a passenger, suffered minor injuries but were not taken to a hospital, DiMartino said. The KCPD is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. A driver was injured Monday when the car he was driving ran a stop sign and was struck by a Kansas City Police SUV, authorities said.
A blue Ford Explorer, marked as a police vehicle, was traveling north on Woodland Avenue through the intersection at East 57th Street when a white Mitsubishi Endeavor entered the intersection, Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a spokesman for the KCPD, said Monday. The Endeavor failed to stop at the stop sign when the SUV drove through the intersection and the SUV struck the car, DiMartino said.
