Singh announced that Minister Atishi was hospitalized after her health deteriorated following five days of indefinite hunger strike. Atishi’s Health and Treatment Singh stated that Atishi’s blood sugar level dropped to 36 mg/dl, prompting her hospitalization at LNJP Hospital’s intensive care unit. The minister risked her health for the residents of Delhi, demanding their fair share of water. Suspension of Hunger Strike Due to Atishi’s hospitalization, the AAP has decided to suspend the hunger strike. However, the party will continue to protest and advocate for Delhi’s water rights. Singh emphasized that the fight does not end here and that opposition parties will raise their voices in Parliament on the matter. Opposition Support and Action Singh appealed to all opposition parties to support Delhi’s cause in Parliament. He also plans to write to the Prime Minister and table the issue in Parliament. A delegation met with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to seek his assistance in resolving the crisis. Letter to the Prime Minister Singh stated that the AAP will write to the Prime Minister on Tuesday, urging him to ensure that Delhi receives its rightful allocation of water. The party will also request the Haryana Chief Minister to intervene and address the issue. BJP’s Alleged Role Singh accused the BJP government in Haryana of intentionally reducing Delhi’s water supply by 100 MGD for the past three weeks. Despite Delhi’s growing population, he claimed that the city is still receiving water as per the 1994 agreement. Appeal for Resolution Singh expressed concern that despite Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha MPs being from the BJP, the party government in Haryana has neglected the city’s water needs. He appealed for a swift and amicable resolution to the crisis, ensuring that the residents of Delhi have access to clean and uninterrupted water.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday said Delhi Minister Atishi had to end her indefinite hunger strike over the water crisis in Delhi after her health deteriorated and she was hospitalized.
Addressing a press conference here, he said Atishi’s health took a hit after nearly five days of fasting, and her blood sugar level dropped to as low as 36 mg/dl, after which she had to be admitted to hospital around 3.45 am.
He said the minister risked her life for the people of Delhi and demanded their rightful share of water.
Atishi was admitted to the intensive care unit of LNJP Hospital and in view of all these circumstances, the fast is called off. However, the fight does not end here and the party will continue to raise its voice through other means of protest and will also take action This has been tabled in Parliament to provide water to Delhi, Singh added.
The RS MP further said that all opposition parties will raise their voices in Parliament to give Delhi its rightful share of water.
Her sugar level initially reached 43 and then dropped to 36, after which the doctor told her that her life could be in danger as the situation was very serious, and she will have to be hospitalized.
Singh further prayed to God that the minister may recover soon, adding that he would write to the Prime Minister and also raise the issue in Parliament.
Singh further stated that the party will write a letter to the Prime Minister on Tuesday, asking him to ensure that the people of Delhi get the water they are entitled to.
He also informed that a representative delegation had also met Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena and was requested to talk to Haryana CM to resolve the issue.
“Considering all these developments, this ‘Jal Satyagraha’ will now get a break. But all opposition parties together will raise the water problem within parliament. The weather is also fine, it has also rained so I hope the situation will improve now. Now the water level will also rise slowly and the situation will improve, I hope,” Singh added.
The party informed that according to LNJP’s doctor, when she was taken to the hospital, her blood sugar level had reached 36, which is very worrying, and apart from that, there were increased ketones in the urine.
Currently, after being admitted to the ICU, her health is fine and a team of doctors is taking care of her situation.
Her medical tests have been done and the reports are yet to come, the doctor had said.
Meanwhile, Singh criticized the BJP government of Haryana and alleged that it has continuously provided 100 MGD less water for the past three weeks, leaving Delhi residents facing water shortage.
He further said that despite a three-fold increase in the city’s population in the last three decades, Delhi is getting water as per the 1994 agreement.
The AAP leader added that the people of Delhi elected all seven MPs of the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, but the party government in Haryana has stopped water supply to Delhi, he claimed.
