Ngwe Hee Sem, Chairman of the State Health, Human Resources, and Unity Committee, announced that 10% of the available vacancies are reserved for individuals with disabilities (PwD), while another 10% pertain to opportunities in the gig economy sector. Vacancies from more than 35 employers, including Social Security Organization Rehabilitation Center (Perkeso), CTRM Aero Composites Sdn Bhd, Puspakom, Mydin Holding Berhad, and 99 Speedmart, will be represented. “Approximately 5,000 new and experienced job seekers are expected to attend the career carnival,” Ngwe said. “Interview sessions will take place from 9 am to 5 pm.” The carnival will also provide opportunities for the Orang Asli community in Melaka. “As the state executive councilor responsible for their welfare, I can arrange transportation such as buses to bring them to the carnival,” Ngwe added. The event will be held at Hall A of the Melaka International Trade Center (MITC). Ngwe also mentioned that various government agencies, such as Perkeso, the Public Service Commission of Malaysia, the military, and the Royal Malaysian Navy, will be present to offer advice and information to job seekers and visitors. Job seekers are advised to dress formally and bring relevant documents to the interview sessions. Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh is expected to officiate the opening ceremony, while Human Resources Minister Steven Sim is anticipated to attend. Ngwe further highlighted that according to statistics from the MYFutureJobs National Job Portal, 8,215 vacancies were advertised in Melaka up to May 17 this year, and 2,200 job seekers have secured employment during the same period. “A total of 4,111 employers have registered on the MYFutureJobs portal since 2020, and the unemployment rate in Melaka stands at 2.2% in the first quarter of this year,” he added. He said the vacancies involve more than 35 employers from Melaka and other states, including Social Security Organization Rehabilitation Center (Perkeso), CTRM Aero Composites Sdn Bhd, Puspakom, Mydin Holding Berhad and 99 Speedmart.
“An estimated 5,000 new and experienced job seekers will attend the career carnival, with interview sessions from 9am to 5pm.
“Jobs will also be available for the Orang Asli community in Melaka. As the state executive councilor responsible for the welfare of this group, I can provide transportation, such as buses, to take them to the carnival if necessary,” he said. The carnival is held at Hall A of the Melaka International Trade Center (MITC).
He said this at a press conference on the MyFutureJobs Melaka Careertrans 2024 Career Carnival, which was also attended by Melaka Perkeso director Nur Mohammad Bakhtir Mohamad Akhir.
Ngwe said the carnival will also involve various government agencies, including Perkeso, the Public Service Commission of Malaysia, the military and the Royal Malaysian Navy, who will provide job seekers and visitors with advice and information regarding the services offered by the participating agencies are offered.
He advised job seekers attending job application sessions at the fair to dress formally and modestly and bring relevant documents.
He said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh will open the carnival and Human Resources Minister Steven Sim is expected to attend.
