Mountbatten’s collection of beautiful plants and flowers will be on display at a special event this weekend.

For the first time, the hospice is taking part in the National Open Garden Scheme, an initiative to celebrate vibrant gardens across the country.

Mountbatten’s award-winning Chelsea Garden, installed in 2016 and officially opened by Alan Titchmarsh, is the centrepiece.

“We are delighted to be part of the National Open Garden Scheme this year,” said Nigel Hartley, CEO of Mountbatten.

“Although our garden is open to the public all year round for all to enjoy, this weekend special emphasis is placed on the beautiful outdoor space we have at Mountbatten.

“We are incredibly lucky to have a small group of volunteers who do a fantastic job keeping the garden looking so colorful.

“Our garden provides space for social connection, quiet contemplation and reflection and we really encourage people to come along and view it.”

The garden features a variety of interesting planted areas with trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses, water features and terraces with an abundance of wildlife.

There is free parking at Mountbatten and the hospice café is open, serving a range of drinks, cakes and snacks.
