Launch of Virtual Ward and Remote Patient Monitoring ServiceLaunch of Virtual Ward and Remote Patient Monitoring Service University Hospital Limerick (UHL) is implementing a new virtual ward and remote patient monitoring service in Ireland in collaboration with Doccla. This service aims to provide hospital-level care at home for select patients, reducing the need for inpatient stays. Suitable Patients The service is suitable for patients who are stable but require ongoing care before discharge from hospital. Implementation The first two departments to offer the service will launch at the end of the first quarter of 2023. Depending on the success of the program at UHL and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin, it is expected to be rolled out to more hospitals later this year and in 2025. PATIENTS at University Hospital Limerick are among those benefiting from the launch of a new virtual ward and remote patient monitoring service in Ireland.

Doccla is working with the HSE to launch the service.

This makes treatment at hospital level possible at home, with initial treatment

The first two departments will be launched at the end of the first quarter of this year.

The service allows patients to receive acute care, monitoring and treatment in the comfort of their own home, reducing the need for inpatient stays.

It will provide a safe and efficient alternative to traditional inpatient care with remote healthcare.

It is particularly suitable for patients who are stable but require ongoing care before discharge from hospital.

Based on this model, patients in other countries have experienced better recovery, greater satisfaction with care, a lower risk of hospital-acquired infections, and lower travel costs to and from the hospital.
