Due to the overwhelming demand, ticket sales were suspended a day after the city released 10,000 free front-row tickets for the event at Pier 45 and Pier 84 in Manhattan’s Hudson River Park. The website distributing the tickets crashed on Wednesday, indicating that all tickets had been exhausted. Shortly thereafter, it displayed a message stating, “Thank you for your interest. The next batch of tickets will be available tomorrow.” Additional tickets will be released on Thursday at 10 a.m., officials announced. While tickets are required for the front-row viewing areas, the fireworks display is open and free to the public. Some New York City businesses offer ticketed packages for viewing the fireworks with smaller crowds and additional amenities such as cocktails and DJs. However, these tickets may exceed $100. Macy’s does not offer tickets for VIP viewing or exclusive parties. The fireworks show will commence at approximately 9:25 p.m. on July 4th, featuring over 30 colors and “never-before-seen effects.” Launched from five locations between West 14th Street and West 34th Street on the Hudson River, the fireworks will soar up to 1,000 feet in the air.
