After the meeting, Yadav praised Atishi’s efforts to address Delhi’s water woes. He accused the central government of using the CBI to frame Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in a liquor case to impede the AAP government’s operations. “The central government has treated the Delhi government and Chief Minister Kejriwal in the most discriminatory manner,” Yadav asserted. “Kejriwal created a government and made strides in healthcare, education, and other areas, but the Centre is throwing up obstacles.” Yadav further alleged that the center deliberately framed Kejriwal with the CBI to prevent him from being released from prison, hindering his interactions with the public. Karat commended Atishi’s “courageous fight” for the people of Delhi. She expressed her disappointment with the central government’s and LG’s biased approach to the issue. “This is a people’s struggle, not just Atishi’s,” Karat stated. “I’m here to support her. She informed me that she is ready to resume her fight.” Atishi was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday due to her deteriorating health during an indefinite fast to demand additional water allocation for Delhi. Her condition is currently stable, and she has been moved from the ICU to a ward.
New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and CPI(M) functionary Brinda Karat met Water Minister Atishi at Lok Nayak Hospital on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Yadav said Atishi was fighting to solve Delhi’s problems. He also alleged that the Center used the CBI to frame Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in a liquor case to delay the functioning of the AAP government in the capital. “The Central government has discriminated against the Delhi government and Chief Minister Kejriwal the most. Kejriwal formed a government and worked to improve healthcare, education and other facilities, but the Center is creating obstacles,” Yadav alleged. “The Center must have known that he (Kejriwal) will come out of jail. To ensure that he does not come out, the government does not function and he does not mingle with the people, he was framed by the CBI,” the former UP CM said. Karat also said that Atishi “fought very bravely” for the people of Delhi. “It is a matter of regret that the central government and LG are treating the issue with bias. It is the people’s struggle and not Atishi’s alone. I came here to greet her. She told me she was waiting to return to the path of battle,” Karat told reporters. Atishi was hospitalized on Tuesday after her health deteriorated during an indefinite fast to demand extra water for Delhi. Doctors at the hospital said her condition was stable and she had been transferred from the ICU to a ward.
