The palace said she remains under observation as a precautionary measure but is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, expressed his gratitude to the staff at Southmead Hospital for their care and expertise. He said his wife is “recovering slowly” and will “come out when she is ready.” Former royal correspondent Michael Cole told GB News that the incident could be “more serious” than the palace has revealed, noting that Anne spent a night in the hospital and “she’s quite a tough aunt.” Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, also visited her mother in the hospital on Tuesday. She appeared relaxed and smiling as she left the hospital, indicating that her mother is doing well.
Princess Anne has left Bristol’s Southmead Hospital in a private vehicle and been taken back to Gatcombe Park after suffering injuries and concussion in a horrific horse-riding incident.
Former royal correspondent Michael Cole claims Princess Anne’s horse-related incident that landed her in hospital could be “more serious” than Buckingham Palace has revealed. The palace said the Princess Royal suffered “minor injuries and concussion” at Gatcombe Park. Buckingham Palace announced in a statement on social media: “The Princess Royal has suffered minor injuries and a concussion following an incident at the Gatcombe Park estate last night.” “Her Royal Highness remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol as a precautionary measure under observation and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. “The King has been kept closely informed and joins the entire Royal Family in sending his kindest wishes and goodnight to the Princess for a speedy recovery.” Cole told GB News during a recent interview that a night in the hospital meant the incident was “no small matter.” He noted that Princess Anne, known for her toughness, didn’t just go to the hospital was going. “She stayed overnight and I think that should be an indication that this was no small matter,” he told GB News presenters Emily Carver and Tom Harwood “As we all know, she’s quite a tough aunt and her going to a hospital in Bristol means there was a reason for that. “Of course they have to keep it under observation with a concussion. It could just be a hit to the head and you see stars, or it could be something more serious.”
The Princess Royal, 73, discreetly left Southmead Hospital in Bristol on Friday and began an hour-long drive back to her country home in Gatcombe Park near Minchinhampton.
She spent five nights in the hospital, the region’s largest trauma center, after suffering injuries and a concussion on Sunday that were comparable to the impact of a horse’s head or legs.

Her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, 69, expressed his gratitude to hospital staff who cared for his wife.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to the entire team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during my wife’s short stay,” he said.
Local time on Wednesday, Sir Tim told reporters outside the hospital that the Princess Royal was “recovering slowly” and that she would “come out when she was ready.”
He was seen on Tuesday carrying a large blue cooler bag to the hospital, which he said contained “just a few small treats from home,” for a two-hour lunch with Anne.
“She’s doing well, slowly but surely,” he said.
Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall also left hospital on Tuesday after spending an hour there visiting her injured mother.
The British rider, Olympian and society figure appeared relaxed and smiling as she left the region’s largest trauma center in a matching denim shirt and shorts, with a shoulder bag and white sneakers.
Zara and her husband Mike Tindall were reportedly in Gatcombe when Anne was attacked by her horse. Sir Tim accompanied his wife to hospital after she received emergency medical attention at the scene.
Princess Anne’s husband has given an update on the Princess Royal’s health as Anne remains in hospital after being struck by a horse. Princess Anne was reportedly kicked by a horse while out for an evening walk in the grounds of her Gatcombe Park estate on Sunday night. SkyNews.com.au Digital Reporter Reilly Sullivan said it was clearly “quite a serious incident”. “Her husband… he’s come out, he says she’s doing better, but for now she’s in hospital,” he told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power.
Anne’s neighbour told the Daily Express newspaper on Monday that he saw an air ambulance land near Anne’s home that evening, followed by a police helicopter, and that he “expected the worst”.
“I saw an air ambulance land on her estate and I thought, oh my goodness, I hope it’s not Anne,” they told the newspaper.
“And then the police helicopter started circling about ten minutes later and I thought, the worst has happened.
“The air ambulance was on the ground for about 40 minutes I think. I’m not sure if she was taken to the hospital, but it didn’t look like it when it flew the other way. I really hope she’s OK.”
In a statement on social media that same evening, Buckingham Palace said: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on Gatcombe Park estate last night.”
“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery,” the report said.
“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the entire Royal Family in sending his dearest love and good wishes to the Princess for a speedy recovery.”
