Vermont may not be known for its pizza, but this famous restaurant more than makes up for it.
The New York Times on Wednesday released a list of the 22 best places to get pizza in the US. Tillerman, a restaurant and inn in Bristol, a small town about 45 minutes outside Burlington, was named one of the best.
The pizza spots quickly became popular. Tillerman’s opened in 2022, replacing the Inn at Baldwin Creek and Mary’s Restaurant after the previous owners retired.
While the restaurant is set in a new era, it is housed in an 18th century farmhouse.
What the New York Times thinks about Tillerman
Brett Anderson, who wrote the Tillerman section of the article, praises owners Jason Kirmse and Kate Baron, Tillerman’s executive chef, Kelsey Martin, and sous chef, Taylor Adams, in the article.
“Rustic comforts — raging fires in the winter, live music nights at the barn in the summer — remain central to the appeal here,” Anderson said.

“A lot of thought and care goes into what we offer. A lot of that happens behind the scenes, by people who work hard. Ultimately, it always comes down to our team that makes it all possible,” the company said.
