He believes that his role as “the guy” has prepared him to contribute to the Thunder’s success despite their existing talent. Ajay Mitchell Mitchell joins the Thunder as the second pick of the draft and acknowledges that his role on the team may fluctuate. Oklahoma City, OK – A new era of Thunder basketball was officially introduced on Saturday. Nikola Topić, Dillon Jones and Ajay Mitchell all met with the media to discuss how to reach the next level and join the Thunder.
Topić will miss next season with a knee injury. Many draft boards had him listed as a top four prospect in the draft, but the knee injury scared off some teams.
As for Jones, he said his time at Weber State as “the guy” prepared him for what he needed to do to help OKC win with their current talent.
Ajay Mitchell joins the squad as second choice and knows his role may be improvised and less consistent than usual, but he says he is prepared for that.
