As Chiasson unleashed an elbow from the mount, a torrent of blood erupted from a deep laceration above Silva’s right eye. The referee immediately summoned the Octagon doctor, who wasted no time in stopping the fight and awarding Chiasson a second-round technical knockout victory. The graphic nature of Silva’s injury sent shockwaves through the crowd. The referee’s decision to halt the contest was met with both relief and concern, as the extent of Silva’s wound was evident from the blood that streamed down her face. This incident highlights the inherent risks of combat sports and the importance of prioritizing fighter safety. Despite the excitement and thrill of the competition, the well-being of the athletes must always come first.

We just saw a fight stopped because of a horrible cut.

Bloody cut causes doctor to stop fight

Macy Chiasson scored a second-round TKO victory over Mayra Bueno Silva after cageside officials had to intervene and stop the bout due to a cut.

But a warning: it’s not for the faint of heart.

From the mount, Chiasson drove an elbow into Bueno Silva’s head, blood immediately gushing from the cut just above her right eye.

With a mask of blood running down her face, the referee called a timeout so the Octagon doctor could check the cut.

He did not hesitate for long and stopped the match, giving Chiasson the victory.

Dan Ige replaces Brian Ortega in scandalous last-minute substitution

After cutting weight yesterday, Brian Ortega has now been sensationally ruled out of his co-main event fight against Diego Lopes.

In scenes never before seen in UFC history, Ortega is replaced by Dan Ige.

Ige will now fight Lopes at a catchweight of 165 pounds.

Ige was not originally on the card, but lives in Vegas and got the extremely late call up on the day of the fight. Ige’s team was told about the possibility of raiding Las Vegas at 4:30 PM – about five hours before the fight.

Ige immediately contacted UFC matchmaker Hunter Campbell and begged him to step in and fight.

“Hey Hunter, I’ve been in camp for 3 months,” he wrote to the UFC president. “I’m healthier than ever, I can fight this guy tonight and beat him.

“This is what legends are made of. I’m in, I’m ready. I’m in great shape.

“Please don’t take this opportunity away from me.”

News of the shocking developments first leaked on social media after the first preliminary rounds had already begun.

Ige, his coach Eric Nicksick and manager Ali Abdelaziz all tweeted updates before the UFC had a chance to officially release a statement.

It is the culmination of a terrible week for Ortega.

The American struggled during his weight cut, but waited until weigh-in day to notify the UFC. His fight with Lopes was then changed to a lightweight bout, with Ortega receiving a barrage of criticism.

Lopes had already reached the 145-pound weight limit when he was told of Ortega’s struggles.

It’s officially the final replacement fight in UFC history, with Ige and Lopes both weighing in at 165 pounds at T-Mobile Arena.

Payton Talbott scores a 19-second knockout

Remember the name: Payton Talbott

In just his second UFC fight, the 25 just scored the second-fastest finish in bantamweight history.

Talbott is one of the biggest talents in the UFC and is already a Dana White favorite. He also went into his fight against Yanis Ghemmouri as a big favorite.

The American wasted no time in proving why.

Talbott landed a perfectly timed straight right hand to Ghemmouri’s chin 13 seconds into their three-round bout.

It could have been stopped there, but Talbott had to follow up with some ground and pound before the fight was called off after 19 seconds.

Talbott also proved on the mic that he has the total package by challenging Adrian Yanez for his next fight in the UFC.

Michelle Waterson-Gomez is retiring

There have been emotional scenes inside the cage as strawweight veteran Michelle Waterson-Gomez officially confirmed her UFC retirement.

Waterson-Gomez, who has fought some of the best in the 115-pound division, broke down in tears before a video of her highlights and memories played on the big screen.

“I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the UFC and all you fans who keep pushing me,” she said, choking back tears. “Fighting is in my veins, it’s who I am.

“I asked my husband, ‘What am I if I don’t fight?’ And he said to me, ‘Just because you’re not in the Octagon doesn’t mean you’re not fighting.’

“That helped me to move on.

“As long as my daughter is born, she’s been in my corner. I’m just happy to be in their corner now, cheering them on and being on the other side.”

Waterson-Gomez retires after a unanimous decision loss to Gillian Robertson during the UFC 303 preliminary round. This ends a five-fight losing streak.

She debuted in the UFC in 2015 with back-to-back wins over Angela Magana and Paige VanZant, and owns wins over Cortney Casey, Felicia Herrig and Angela Hill.
