Authorities believe the station may be a corridor for human trafficking activities. Previous Arrests * Two days prior to this incident, two Bangladeshis were apprehended at the station while attempting to board a train to Karnataka. * On June 26, five individuals, including four Bangladeshi women, were arrested while trying to leave the state via Agartala railway station. * Three days earlier, nine Bangladeshi nationals, including six women, were arrested while attempting to board a train to other states in search of work. Authorities’ Suspicions The recent string of arrests at Agartala railway station has raised suspicions among authorities. They suspect the station is being used as a hub for human trafficking, drug trafficking, and other illicit activities.
Eleven Bangladeshis, including five women, were arrested at Agartala railway station for entering Tripura with the intention of moving to other states of the country in search of jobs, a police officer from the government railway station said on Sunday.
They were arrested at Agartala railway station on Saturday and produced before the court on Sunday. During interrogation, the Bangladeshi nationals failed to produce any valid documents, said the officer-in-charge of the Government Railway Police station, Tapash Das.
He added that they claimed that they were planning to go to Odisha, Kolkata or Bangalore in search of work.
Two days ago, two Bangladeshis were arrested at Agartala railway station before they could board a train to Karnataka.
Earlier on June 26, five persons, including four Bangladeshi women, were arrested while trying to leave the state from Agartala railway station.
