Manchester United are reportedly back in talks with Jonny Evans over an extension to his stay at Old Trafford.
Evans is out of contract this summer after returning to United on a one-year deal last summer and making 30 appearances, including as a substitute in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
The Northern Irish star is out of contract but United are keen to keep him, partly due to a limited budget for new signings, and have reportedly urged him to stay at the club for at least another season, according to the SUN.
The 36-year-old has had discussions about a new one Man united He recently admitted that he doesn’t know what the future holds and whether he will stay at the Manchester Giants this summer transfer window.
“I don’t know,” Evans said when asked about his contract. “It’s early days. The season just finished and I think I flew straight to Palma the day after the cup final and spent a week here and then met the (Northern Ireland) team in Murcia.
“Now we’re back in Palma (to play Spain), so I’ve been on the road. I wanted to focus on these two games and meet the boys. Once I’m back and everything is a bit calmer, I’m sure I’ll have more conversations with the club.”
Asked how much longer he wanted to play for club and country, the 106-cap defender said: “I don’t know if the question is if you want to. The answer to that is you want to play forever.
“Anyone who plays football, there’s nothing better right now. It’s more about how things go. So many things have to be involved, your fitness level and your age become a part of it.
“But if I may answer that, then you want to continue playing for the rest of your life.”
WILL UNITED MAKE ARAUJO AN OFFER?
There are rumours that Manchester United will make moves to sign Barcelona star Ronaldo Araujo
Araujo is a player who has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent seasons and he could re-enter the transfer market if Barcelona make a decision on his future.
Although the centre-back has been linked with a move away, the 25-year-old has repeatedly stressed his desire to stay at the Catalan club.
However, recent reports have suggested that several people within Barcelona’s hierarchy believe that selling the Uruguayan would be the right decision for the club in order to raise some funds to help solve the club’s financial problems.
And according to the current version of the Catalan media, Manchester United want to strengthen their defense this summer and Barcelona are reportedly looking to make a very attractive offer for their defender.
The defender, whose contract expires in 2026, is understood to have a €1 billion (£855.6 million/$1.1 billion) release clause

If Barcelona make the decision to sell the defender in the summer window, he would be a brilliant addition Manchester United side – especially now that Rafa Varana has left the club and will have to be replaced.
But it will be interesting to see how this all plays out – and if Barcelona do decide to sell Araujo – Man United should make an attempt to pull off a deal as he would be a huge statement signing.
But with Barcelona now having an immediate replacement for the star, it is unlikely he will leave Camp Nou unless an insane offer is made for the defender.
THE HAGUE WANTS KOUNDE –
Erike Ten Hag is said to have told Manchester United he would like Jules Kounde to join from Barcelona
Kounde is a player United have been linked with since his time at Sevilla, but he has never been able to convince the Frenchman that a move to the Premier League is a move he should make.
However, Kounde’s future in Spain now looks uncertain as the Spaniards are set to sell a number of players in the upcoming transfer window in the hope of revamping the squad after a disappointing campaign.
He has already attracted interest from several European giants, including Paris Saint-Germain, Inter and Chelsea, but reports in Spain now claim that Ten Hag has personally asked the board to sign Kounde from Barcelona, as the defender fits the style of play he would like to work with at Old Trafford.

Man united have allowed Rafa Varane to leave the club – so they will need to sign a ready-made replacement for the world-class act.
But Kounde is a man they have wanted for a while and a player who could be one of the best – he would be a brilliant signing.
But despite all the speculation and rumours, we would be very surprised if he actually leaves the Spanish giants and we expect him to stay, as he has shown no real desire to leave Camp Nou or even play in the Premier League.
But in the world of football anything can happen and with the right offer he could be signed by Manchester United, if they really want him.
