Crewe Road Expansion Plans ProgressCrewe Road Expansion Plans Progress George Town, Cayman Islands – Construction on the final stretch of the Crewe Road expansion project is set to begin this weekend, marking a significant milestone in the multi-phase initiative aimed at easing traffic congestion in George Town. Since work commenced five years ago, the project has focused on creating a six-lane expressway linking Chrissie Tomlinson Roundabout to Grand Harbour. The latest phase will connect Crewe Road to the CUC Roundabout. The National Roads Authority (NRA) has emphasized that the expansion is being implemented in segments to facilitate the relocation of utilities and the replacement of structures along the route. Both eastbound and westbound lanes between the Grand Harbour Roundabout and the CUC Roundabout will be affected. The NRA’s website provides comprehensive information on the project, including details on road closures and traffic diversions. (CNS): Five years after work first began on the six-lane expressway linking Chrissie Tomlinson Roundabout via Red Bay Roundabout to Grand Harbour, work will begin this weekend on the stretch of Crewe Road that connects to the CUC Roundabout. The National Roads Authority said the multi-phase road widening initiative aims to increase traffic capacity on the main arterial roads into George Town and the intersections that support them at Grand Cayman’s major traffic bottlenecks.
The expansion is being carried out in segments, as the process requires the relocation of utilities and the removal and replacement of boundary walls, fences and other structures. The work will take place between the Grand Harbour Roundabout and the CUC Roundabout, in both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
