Other local riders were noticeably absent from this year’s event, which saw top riders from around the world descend upon The Wick 338, a renowned off-road motorcycle racing venue. The lack of local participation meant that the event lacked the competitive spirit that previous years had fostered. Privateers from the area were unable to keep pace with the highly skilled international riders, who dominated the races and took home the top spots on the podium. SOUTHWICK — Former Massachusetts motocross racer Tony Lorusso, 52, may have set an age record for competitors at the Southwick National on June 29, but he couldn’t match the top 10 finishes of his youth.

None of the other local riders were in attendance at this year’s big event at The Wick 338, where local privateers went handlebar to handlebar with some of the world’s most talented riders on the best off-road motorcycle tour in North America.
