The new initiative will allow children under the age of 15 living in the state to register for Husky, Connecticut’s Medicaid program. Previously, undocumented children up to the age of 12 were eligible for Husky coverage. The new expansion extends this eligibility to children up to age 15. The expansion of coverage was signed into law by Lamont in 2023 and went into effect on Monday. “This policy is good for the state, good for families, it saves the state money and we should embrace this as a really big deal for our families, to know that some people can get coverage,” said Luis Luna, the coalition manager for Husky 4 Immigrants.
