CRPF Presence Delays Offline Classes in 20 Government Schools in Kolkata
Due to the ongoing Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) presence in various areas of Kolkata, offline classes have been delayed in 20 government schools. According to reports, the CRPF has been deployed in the city following recent communal clashes. As a result, the West Bengal Education Department has decided to suspend offline classes in schools located in these areas. The 20 affected schools are primarily located in the Kidderpore and Metiabruz areas. Offline classes in these schools were scheduled to resume on June 27, but have now been postponed indefinitely. The Education Department has instructed school authorities to continue providing online classes to students until further notice. Parents and guardians have also been requested to cooperate with the decision and to ensure their children participate in virtual lessons. The CRPF presence in Kolkata has raised concerns among residents, but authorities have assured that the force has been deployed solely to maintain law and order. The Education Department has taken this precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and teachers. The situation is being closely monitored by the government, and any updates on the resumption of offline classes will be communicated to the public. In the meantime, parents and students are advised to stay updated through official channels and follow the guidelines issued by the Education Department.Central Forces Delay School Reopening in Calcutta
Central Forces Delay School Reopening in Calcutta
Despite the end of summer vacation, around 20 state-affiliated schools in Calcutta remain closed due to the occupation of their premises by central forces. Beleghata Deshbandhu Girls’ School has resumed classes using temporary partitions to separate classrooms occupied by Central Armed Forces personnel. However, 32 schools remain under occupation. Police sources indicate that at least 39 central force units have vacated the city, leaving 111 remaining. Efforts are underway to reduce the number of occupied schools to around a dozen by finding alternative accommodation. The police are exploring options such as renting community halls and seeking clarification from the state Election Commission. The Beleghata Deshbandhu school principal confirmed that classes are taking place in other rooms with a partition separating the forces’ presence. St. Paul’s School will commence online classes from Tuesday, while Tiljala Balika Vidyalaya is conducting online lessons due to inaccessible toilets. Schools in Salt Lake and Rajarhat have been vacated, with forces relocated to Bidhannagar Govt College and Aliah University. The school education department has instructed schools to resume physical classes, but those occupied by central forces remain closed. A case has been filed in court to address the issue, which will be heard by the Chief Justice on Wednesday.
Central Forces Deployment Delays Offline Classes in Kolkata Schools
The presence of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Kolkata has resulted in a delay in the resumption of offline classes in 20 government schools. The schools, located near sensitive areas, were scheduled to reopen on October 18th for classes 9th to 12th. However, the CRPF deployment, which is part of the ongoing security arrangements for Durga Puja, has disrupted the opening plans. School authorities have expressed concern about the delay, stating that it will impact students’ academic progress. They have urged the authorities to find an alternative solution that does not compromise security. Parents are also worried about the situation, as they want their children to resume regular classes for their future prospects. The CRPF has assured that it is working closely with the school administration to ensure the safety and security of students. It has also stated that it is exploring ways to minimize the impact on educational activities. Meanwhile, the authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and are expected to announce a revised date for the resumption of offline classes.
