SINGAPORE: The Marine Parade Cluster Shuttle Bus will operate from next Monday (July 8) between 10am and 4pm on weekdays, except public holidays.
Registration for the service, which is specifically aimed at residents of Marine Parade, opened on June 30 (Sunday).
Marine Parade GRC MPs Tan See Leng and Edwin Tong told residents in videos on their Facebook pages that they had heard their feedback on the challenges they face in reaching essential amenities such as polyclinics, supermarkets and food centres.
“So we recognize the need to provide you with convenience. And so this new shuttle bus that we are introducing will do just that,” said Dr. Tan.
The service has a total of six stops in Marine Parade: TEL Marine Terrace MRT station, the bus stop in front of Blk 34 Marine Crescent, Marine Parade Central roundabout, Duncan Food Centre, Eunos Polyclinic and Joo Chiat Complex.

“This service is designed to reduce the time it takes to reach key destinations, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable daily commute,” Dr Tan wrote
He said the shuttle’s seven routes are designed so that residents can “easily transfer between shuttle buses for routes with overlapping stops, allowing them to access different departments within the cluster.”
Meanwhile, MP Seah Kian Peng said the free shuttle bus service is part of the district’s WeCare programme.
Mr Tong, meanwhile, said many Joo Chiat residents had expressed concerns about the last-mile connections.
He acknowledged that it may be too far for some residents, especially the elderly, to walk to the MRT station or polyclinic.
He explained that people who register will be given a barcode that identifies them as residents of the Marine Parade cluster, which they will then have to show to the driver so they can board the bus.
Residents who need assistance with registration can visit Braddell Heights Community Club, Geylang Serai Community Club, Joo Chiat Community Club, Kampong Ubi Community Centre, Katong Community Centre, MacPherson Community Club, Marine Parade Community Club, Mountbatten Community Centre and Siglap South Community Centre. They can also get a physical WeCare card there if they do not wish to use the app.

However, Mr Tong strongly encouraged everyone to download the app so they could track the location of the shuttle bus while waiting at the pick-up points.
