7 days to die finally leaves early access and moves to version 1.0 after over a decade of early access and development.

With this milestone, the game is finally coming to the current generation of consoles, specifically the Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Normally, this would be good news and celebrated by the fanbase, but not everyone is happy about it, and for a very pressing reason.

The official X/Twitter account for 7 days to die recently announced exciting news about the official launch of the console edition. It also hinted at upcoming discounts and the removal of the old listing (for previous generation consoles).

Not everyone in the fanbase seems thrilled about it, however. After being charged $40 for the PS4 version of the game, this user expressed their annoyance that they had to pay more money to get the PS5 edition. Instead, they felt they should get it for free as an automatic upgrade.

Another user accused the developers, The Fun Pimps, of not caring about the fanbase and instead being greedy.

A large portion of the fan base consisted of people who had been supporting the game for years.

Some even followed the game’s development closely when it first released to the public in Early Access in 2013.

It wasn’t just a few people who responded with the same sentiment, but many. Many people seemed to feel that they deserved a free upgrade after purchasing the PS4 version of the game.

Do you need to repurchase the game?

7 days to die seems to be getting himself into trouble controversies it may not even be to blame forThis isn’t the first or last game to follow such a monetization model.

Think of GTA 5, which was released on the PS3 in 2013, the same year as The Fun Pimp game. It was re-released on the PS4 and PS5. No doubt some people bought all versions, or at least two of the three.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is another similar case. The popular open-world RPG first came out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Then there was the Special editionwhich was released in 2016 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Jubilee edition was released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Players had to purchase each of these separately if they wanted them. There was no free upgrade, but upgrades were discounted (i.e. from Special edition Unpleasant Jubilee edition).

This game follows a similar model, where people can upgrade their PS4 version to the PS5 version at a discounted price.

Some people believe that the developers deserve to be rewarded for the time and effort they put into developing the game for the current generation of consoles.

What are your thoughts on the whole debacle? Is it fair to ask for an upgrade or should players have gotten it for free? Let us know in the comments below!
