Co-op is partnering with Walmart Commerce Technologies to launch a new app that helps co-workers streamline online ordering.

The Store Assist app allows Co-op stores to manage orders, collection and delivery ‘in one place’, for partners including Deliveroo and Just Eat.

The aim is to improve processes and operations in the store so that colleagues no longer have to switch between fast trading apps or different devices.

Co-op estimates that more than 80% of the UK population now access their groceries through its own online platform and third-party delivery partners.

“Growing our share of the quick commerce market is our focus, both through our own online store and with strategic partners,” said Co-op head of online development George Hayworth. “Our approach is focused on the ease, speed and convenience of our local stores, which are well positioned at the heart of communities.

“We are excited to work closely with Walmart Commerce Technologies to implement new technology that is easy to use and supports our continued growth, while further enhancing the fast and reliable service that matters to our member-owners and customers, whenever and wherever they shop with us.”
