Jeff Jarrett, WWE Hall of Fame inductee and Director of Business Development at All Elite Wrestling, was a guest on an episode of the Battleground podcast. Among other things, he discussed how AEW helps its younger talent develop.

Jarrett said, “You know, when you think about it, you’re talking about the evolution of developing talent. Well, the business keeps evolving. You see our guys, not that Jon Moxley needs reps, but he just went to Japan. You see us working with CMLL. I’m currently going to AAA in Mexico. Like I just said, the relationships with New Japan Wrestling. Our talent is getting exposure, the Ring of Honor brand. To take it a step further, there’s the different independents. There’s an independent promotion in Cleveland that I’m currently working with. Guys have their opportunities. If you mirror it, because I think we’re coming out of an era of, I call it the late ’90s, where there was really too much and how the business was, you worked for one or the other. Those days are really gone. So now you look at the opportunities and you look at the music industry. It used to be, you know, three, four, maybe five labels in the music industry that were not only running Nashville, but New York and LA. You were in one of the big three, one of the big five. That’s how you got your musical breakthrough. Those days are over. So all forms of entertainment, whether it’s music, whether it’s straight comedy, wrestling, it doesn’t really matter. Again, it goes back to what we carry in our pockets. With the different apps, you can expose yourself to your audience in a big, big way. I think that’s what talent needs to have. I think it all starts with listening to talent on how they want to be successful? Getting emotionally connected to your audience. It comes down to something I talk about a lot on my podcast, how does talent grow their fan base? It’s all through emotional connection.”
