Ballyhogue 0-18 Monageer-Boolavogue 1-14
Ballyhogue’s latest road to redemption began with a hard-fought Group A victory over runners-up Monageer-Boolavogue in the opening match of the Kavanagh Meats Junior ‘A’ hurling championship on Sunday.
Ballyhogue, runners-up in the last two finals, had to overcome a slow start here, trailing 1-6 to 0-3 after 19 minutes. However, new keeper Shane Roche made a number of saves in the second half, allowing Des Kehoe’s team to break through by the narrowest of margins.
