This interruption is due to a decision by the United States Postal Service (USPS). Milwaukee County Airport Director Brian Dranzik expressed his concerns about the USPS’s decision, which affects not only the airport administration but also its tenants and business partners. Despite providing alternative options for mail delivery, the USPS has declined to continue services during this period. The lack of mail delivery will result in delays in airport operations, including the handling of inbound deliveries and outbound mail, such as that dropped off by travelers. Airport Director Dranzik has called upon Louis DeJoy, Postmaster General of the United States, and Wanda Prater, Milwaukee Postmaster, to reconsider this decision and ensure the continuity of postal services during the RNC.

MILWAUKEE – The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will not deliver mail to Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport during the week of the Republican National Convention (RNC), July 15-18.
Milwaukee County Airport Director Brian Dranzik issued a statement critical of the decision on Friday, July 12. It reads as follows:
“This decision by the USPS not only impacts mail delivery to the airport administration, but also our many tenants and business partners. While our loading dock is closed to deliveries due to RNC-related security, we have provided the USPS with numerous other options to park their vehicles and deliver mail in a safe and efficient manner.
“The airport provides essential services and is open 24/7. The inability of the USPS to deliver mail to the airport will cause unnecessary delays in operations. In addition to inbound deliveries, outbound mail from the airport, including mail dropped off in the airport’s public mailbox used by travelers, will also be delayed.

“Even more disappointing, the USPS has denied our request to hold a meeting to discuss this matter. I call on Louis DeJoy, Postmaster General of the United States and CEO of the U.S. Postal Service, and Wanda Prater, Milwaukee Postmaster, to correct this shortsighted decision and ensure that the USPS will continue to serve the airport and its tenants without interruption, including during the RNC.”
