CHEROKEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Emergency officials in Cherokee County are reminding drivers to slow down and not use electronics while driving after a fire truck was reportedly struck by a distracted driver Saturday morning.

Cherokee County Emergency Management took to Facebook Saturday morning to share photos of a fire truck which was damaged after being hit.

According to the post, the driver who hit the fire truck was messing with their GPS and moving too fast through an accident scene.

“Luckily no firefighters were injured but a valuable piece of equipment was severely damaged. This very easily could have been a very somber post about firefighters killed had they not hit the fire truck,” the post reads.
