St. Marys FC announced Mannion’s signing on social media, highlighting his exceptional talent and championship spirit. “Paul hopes to take his local football club to the next level and continue our successes on the field,” the club stated. Despite his soccer aspirations, Mannion remains committed to Dublin GAA. He has previously spent time away from the panel for personal reasons but has not indicated any plans to step away.

The Kilmacud Crokes player has chosen to play for his local football team in Sandyford, St Marys FC. Mannion is no stranger to the game, having played junior football for Home Farm where he was a real prospect for the team and earned his way to represent Ireland up to U-18 level. He was praised for going far in the sport before settling on the GAA and Dublin.
The news comes hot on the heels of Boys in Blue’s worst All-Ireland Championship campaign in 15 years, when they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by The Tribesmen. With Dublin’s early exit, the corner forward has more time to pursue other ventures, including signing for a football team.

St Mary’s shared the news on social media that Mannion would play for the club this season.

Mannion has previously spent time away from the Dublin panel while he spent a year studying Mandarin in China. This absence caused him to miss Dublin’s All-Ireland triumph in 2015. There is no sign that he will choose to take more time away from the team, but he will focus on another sport for the time being.
Ultimately he would choose to pursue his career in Gaelic Football over any footballing aspirations he might have, but he would prove to be a great asset to the Sandyford based side.
