An incomprehensible tragedy struck a quiet suburban town in Essex County on Saturday. Three people, including two children and an adult, died in a house fire, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said.
Firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire on Liberty Street around 11 a.m. and found the three victims unconscious, the prosecutor’s office said. The fire was in the kitchen and heavy smoke was billowing through the house.
The ages and identities of the victims had not yet been released as of early Saturday evening.
The victims were taken from the house but were pronounced dead at the scene, the Public Prosecution Service said.
