Prime Day is now just a few days away, which means one of the best times of the year to score massive discounts and get the most out of your Amazon Prime membership is almost here. The annual summer sale offers discounts on thousands of items, with lightning-fast deals every hour that you won’t want to miss. It’s one of the biggest sales events outside of Black Friday, with many companies, even those outside of Amazon, offering exclusive discounts that you’ll only find on Prime Day. Some of these deals are even happening right now, as competitors rush to compete with Amazon’s event of the season.

The massive sale is exclusive to Amazon, and we’ve found that most of the best deals can be found there. However, some retailers like Walmart and Target offered sales earlier this year to undercut Amazon’s event. Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about Prime Day 2024. Whether you’re looking for deal categories or competing sales, our years of Prime Day experience can help you save.
When does Amazon Prime Day 2024 start?
The Official dates for Amazon Prime Day 2024 have been set for July 16-17 And most deals are released at 12am PST. The sale itself is once again exclusive to Amazon Prime members, so you’ll need a membership to access the best discounts. The sale event is taking place in 23 different countries this year, so you can take advantage of different discounts around the world depending on your location.
Are there any Early Prime Day deals?
Even though Prime Day isn’t until later in the month, Amazon is already offering several early Prime Day discounts leading up to the event. Some of the best deals include discounts on Fire TV sticks, Audible subscriptions, deals on popular book sets, and several sales on other Amazon devices that you won’t find anywhere else. Amazon is also running a promotion that offers free games for Prime members, as well as a buy 2 get 1 free sale that includes popular media like Harry Potter Illustrated editions and more.

What about Prime Day 2?
Amazon Prime Day 2 is also happening later in the year, ahead of Black Friday. This second major deals event started in 2022 and continued last year into 2023. This year, we expect to see Prime Day 2 again, probably in october. Like Prime Day in July, this one will likely take place in the second week of the month. While this October Prime Day isn’t as good as Black Friday, it’s still worth checking out if you’re looking for deals.
What Prime Day deals can you expect this year?
There’s no shortage of deals on Amazon Prime Day, with new products being slashed every hour with various limited-time lightning deals. We know from past experience that Prime Day 2024 will feature some of the best deals you’ll find on TVs, kitchen appliances, Apple products, vacuum cleaners, and more. We’ve based our categories on past Prime Day sales, so expect these to be in line with the 2024 event on July 16-17.
Computer Games
There are some great times to buy video games throughout the year, and Prime Day is definitely one of them. While you might not find discounts on major consoles during the sale, there are certainly plenty of deals on popular games on the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X. The Steam Summer Sale will also likely happen around this time, making it a good season for PC games to go on sale. Some of these deals have even started before the event.
Subscriptions
While Amazon is known as the largest online retailer, they also have a wide range of subscription services that they own. Prime Day is usually a great time to find discounts on streaming services via Prime Video, or even just extended free trials of Audible and Kindle subscriptions. Amazon is already offering a few free subscriptions for Prime members to get access to before Prime Day even starts.
VR Headset Deals
While you probably can’t expect a discount on the Apple Vision Pro this Prime Day, one of the best deals so far has been a discount on the Meta Quest 3. The biggest price cuts have typically been Meta Quest 2 deals, and with that product’s recent price drop, you can likely expect even lower prices this year, since the Quest 3 has already dropped in price.
Televisions
Last year, Amazon discounted several high-end OLED TVs for Prime Day. We’re expecting similar deals this year, along with some great deals for anyone in the market for a new gaming TV. You can expect TVs of all sizes to be on sale, from as small as 32 inches to as large as 85 inches. And with Prime’s free two-day shipping, your brand new discounted TV could arrive just days after the big event. All in all, this is one of the best times to buy a TV outside of Black Friday and Super Bowl season. Amazon is already offering discounts on select Fire TVs and Fire TV Sticks ahead of July 16.
Kitchen appliances
All kitchen appliances are always a safe bet for Prime Day sales. This includes stand mixers, air fryers, microwaves, and more. In previous years, Prime Day has also offered fantastic deals on coffee makers, sometimes with hundreds of dollars in savings. Overall, Prime Day is one of the best days of the year to save some money if you need new kitchen appliances.
Apple products
Apple products are always a safe bet for Prime Day. We expect the AirPods Pro to see discounts, along with the AirPods Max and other Apple headphones. Additionally, Amazon is likely to markdown a few iPad models, making Prime Day a great time to grab a new device before Apple’s big hardware event in the fall.
Vacuum cleaners
Vacuum cleaners are a hot item on Prime Day. This includes both stick vacuums and robot vacuums, which are great for any household. Big brands like Dyson and iRobot often have a presence on Prime Day, so we expect to see some quality deals from big-name brands in July.
Laptops
With laptop manufacturers releasing new models every year, laptops are a regular feature of the Amazon Prime Day sales event each year. Some of the best gaming laptops and latest models can be bought on sale during Prime Day, which can save you hundreds of dollars. We expect popular brands like HP, Lenovo, Dell, and MSI to have laptops on sale. Prime Day is one of the best times to buy a laptop, both seasonally and because of the deals.
PC accessories
Prime Day is also a great time to buy PC accessories. You can pick up a new headset or one of the latest PC cases for your desktop PC at a big discount. This also applies to Steam Deck accessories such as docks, controllers and chargers.
LEGO sets
Amazon is one of the best places to buy Lego bricks online , and Prime Day is one of the best times to buy LEGO sets each year. There are likely to be some huge discounts on some of the most expensive LEGO sets on the market , and you can even expect some of the cheaper LEGO sets to see discounts during this time. The retailer has even gone so far as to offer early discounts on Mario LEGO sets ahead of the event to match Amazon.
School supplies
Since it takes place during the summer holidays, Prime Day is undoubtedly a great time to find discounts on school supplies. This includes things like clothing, stationery, and backpacks, all of which are discounted during this time. If you were hoping to find a cheap Pokémon backpack for your kids, now is the time to do it.
Game consoles
While the video game console deals aren’t quite as good as Black Friday, you can still expect some decent discounts on gaming systems during Prime Day. It’s one of the best times to pick up a PS5, Nintendo Switch, or Xbox console, and it usually coincides with those publishers’ other summer sales.
Gaming PCs
Summer is probably one of the best times of year to buy a gaming PC or build one yourself. Black Friday typically sees better prices on the PC components themselves, but retailers like Amazon and Walmart always have some serious discounts on budget gaming PCs during the summer months. This is especially true during Prime Day, when Amazon typically has discounts on brands like CyberPower and Asus.
What deals you shouldn’t expect this year
Prime Day doesn’t discount everything, though. One of the biggest categories, new video games, typically isn’t on sale during the big event. Unlike Black Friday, where all new releases in 2024 are heavily discounted, Prime Day might have a few small discounts on older games here and there, but it’s unlikely anyone will spend anything substantial on this sale.
Furthermore, the same can be said for consoles. The best PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S deals are typically saved for the holidays, so don’t expect to find record low prices on a PS5 Slim bundle or the PlayStation Portal. The same can be said for Nintendo Switch and other gaming PC handhelds like the ROG Ally and Steam Deck , or the Lenovo Legion Go .
While we’re already seeing the first discounts on the Meta Quest 3, don’t expect to find any discounts on the Apple Vision Pro or PSVR 2, as these games are unlikely to see a price drop during Prime Day.
What other retailers have Prime Day sales?
While Prime Day is exclusive to Amazon, other retailers have started holding their own sales in recent years. These sales are meant to counterbalance Prime Day, with sweet discounts you won’t find anywhere else in the year except Black Friday.
Best Buy
Best Buy has held a 4th of July sale for the past few years to compete with Prime Day. This event focuses on TVs, Apple products, laptops, and more. You can even find discounted home theater systems, which can be a great addition to your living room or media room. While the 4th of July sale is now over, you can expect them to adjust prices during Prime Day
Walmart
Walmart recently wrapped up its Prime Day counter sale that ran through July 11 of this year. The sale included deals on TVs, patio furniture, kitchen appliances and even the latest headphones. The company also held a “Holiday Kickoff” sale that coincided with Prime Day 2 last year, giving customers a head start on their holiday shopping, so you can expect another sale in the fall if Walmart doesn’t match Prime Day prices this year.
Goal
Target has also consistently offered a Prime Day counter sale during the same hours as Amazon, previously called Target Deal Days. This year, Target offered the same thing, but called it Circle Week. The sale was primarily for Target Circle members and included a number of discounts on tech, toys, and groceries. The Target Circle Week sale only ran until July 13th and has now ended.
Will there still be good sales after Prime Day 2024?
There are actually a few upcoming sales events that will take place after Prime Day ends. The next big sale where you can expect some great discounts is the Labor Day sale, which starts in late August and runs until Labor Day itself, which falls on September 2nd this year.
Following that sale, expect Amazon to continue its tradition of Fall Prime Day, which typically takes place sometime in mid-July. Other retailers will be holding competing fall sales before the Black Friday season kicks off in November.
