He urged the House to remain impartial and questioned the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the poor and middle class. Gogoi highlighted the deletion of Gandhi’s remarks that “PM Modi, BJP, and RSS do not represent a complete Hindu society,” which he described as “unfortunate.” He also dismissed the idea of expecting anything substantial from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government in the upcoming Budget. “I don’t expect anything from PM Modi and the government. PM Modi still has time for Ambani and Adani, but not for the poor and middle class. Inflation and unemployment will continue,” Gogoi said. He criticized the government for retaining ministers despite ongoing issues, such as unemployment and inflation, and questioned the allocation of funds for projects like the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train when there are urgent needs for flood control. Gogoi also affirmed his commitment to representing the interests of the Northeast in Parliament, highlighting issues such as floods and river erosion. The Budget session of Parliament will begin on July 22 and conclude on August 12. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to present the full budget in July.

New Delhi (India), July 15 (ANI): Ahead of the Budget session, Congress MP Jorhat Gaurav Gogoi, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, hoped that the House would remain “impartial”. He added that he “does not expect” anything from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government on the basis of the Budget.
Gogoi told ANI that parts of Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi’s statements in the House of Representatives have been deleted from the minutes.
“We want the House to remain impartial. It is unfortunate that the remarks of our party leader Rahul Gandhi in the previous session were deleted from the record. When he said that PM Modi, BJP and RSS do not represent a complete Hindu society, you saw and heard these important things on your camera, which were deleted from the record. Till now we do not know why it was deleted. Rahul Gandhi also wrote a letter, but people in the BJP are spreading misconceptions among the people. The people gave a befitting reply to the BJP in Badrinath. The Leader of the Opposition is a constitutional office. Whatever Rahulji says as Leader of the Opposition, he does it with responsibility. The weight of his words should be reflected in the parliamentary record,” Gogoi said.
Gogai further said that the country’s thought process is the same as what Rahul Gandhi says in Parliament.
“Hindus are not violent; they are powerful, but they do not use their power in the wrong way. A Hindu walks on the path of truth and does not resort to lies. Yahi Hindu Dharam ki shiksha Ayodhya ke logo ne BJP ke logo ko di. And the same people of Badrinath taught them the lesson again,” he said.
It is noteworthy that in the recently concluded by-elections, Lakhpat Singh Butola of Congress won the Badrinath seat from Rajendra Singh Bhandari of BJP by a margin of 5,224 votes.
Meanwhile, the BJP lost the Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency, which includes Ayodhya, in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. SP leader Awadhesh Prasad defeated BJP leader Lallu Singh.
When asked what the opposition is demanding from the government as the budget session begins, Gogoi attacked PM Modi, saying he has time to attend Ambani’s wedding but he has no time for poor and middle-class people.
“I don’t expect anything from PM Modi and the government. PM Modi still has time for Ambani and Adani, but not for the poor and middle class. Inflation and unemployment will continue. Some marketing gimmicks will continue and the PM will use some fancy words, but I don’t expect him to take concrete steps to fight inflation and unemployment. If someone else was the PM, the BJP might have taken steps against inflation. PM Modi has time to visit Italy and France and attend Ambani’s wedding, but he has no time for youth, women etc. There is a problem with NEET, but the education minister has been retained. Similarly, there is inflation and unemployment, but the finance minister has been retained,” Gogoi said.
“Even after the Manipur unrest, the CM and the Home Minister have been retained. You will see Rahul Gandhi raising national issues both in and outside Parliament,” he said.
After the Congress party appointed Gogoi as party vice-president in the Lok Sabha, MP Jorhat said he would try to make the voice of the entire Northeast heard in Parliament.
“As a representative of a northeastern state, I will try to make the voice of the entire northeast heard in Parliament. This time, the number of Congress members from the northeast has increased… I want to know what the central government is doing about the problems of floods, river and sea erosion. If the Centre has money to give a package of Rs 1 lakh crore for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, can it not give a similar package for flood control,” he said.
The interim budget, tabled on February 1, provided for the financial needs of the interim period until a government was formed after the Lok Sabha elections. After that, the new government would present a full budget in July.
With her upcoming budget presentation, Sitharaman will break the record of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who presented five annual budgets and one interim budget as finance minister between 1959 and 1964. Sitharaman’s upcoming budget speech would be her sixth.
The government has announced the dates of the budget session of parliament, which will begin on July 22 and end on August 12. (ANI)
