A Surreal Escape: Couple Enjoys Exclusive Resort Getaway with an Unexpected TwistA Surreal Escape: Couple Enjoys Exclusive Resort Getaway with an Unexpected Twist Traveling to a five-star resort and finding it completely empty is a tantalizing prospect for many. For one couple, this dream became a reality when they arrived at the Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos in Mexico to discover they were the only guests. Initially, the couple reveled in the unparalleled attention and tranquility of having an entire resort at their disposal. However, as time went on, the experience began to take an eerie turn. As the TikTokker @freedom_hustler shared in a video, “At first, it started as a joke…but it feels more like an episode of Black Mirror.” Cameron, one half of the couple, expressed his growing unease. “Every time I think I see someone not wearing a white uniform I get excited, only to realize there are just more contractors working there.” Beyond the solitude, Cameron couldn’t help but ponder the financial implications of maintaining the resort with virtually no guests. “How can this place afford all these lights? Who pays for all this? This whole kingdom is just for us.” The resort’s management later clarified that they operate at full capacity regardless of occupancy, maintaining a staff-to-guest ratio of three to one, an exception to the norm in the industry.

A couple was shocked when they arrived at a five-star all-inclusive resort to find they were the only ones there. But it wasn’t as great as it first seemed.

Escaping your day job and seeking some sun, peace and quiet is all well and good until you arrive at your resort and find it teeming with people. You have to get up at the crack of dawn if you want to get a sunbed without having to go to the sun. Hunger Games approach someone and get to the lunch buffet early, otherwise you risk picking up the crumbs at the end.

One couple, however, didn’t experience any of these problems when they arrived at the Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos in Mexico and discovered they were the only guests.

A TikTokker named @freedomhustle shared his thoughts on the platform about the empty loungers, empty pool and empty outdoor spaces around the hotel.

Imagine tumbleweed rolling through a beautiful desert.

The idea of traveling solo through a five-star resort with your partner and everyone catering to you – and only you – may sound like a dream come true.

However, Cameron admitted that it wasn’t quite what it initially seemed.

In a video he explains: “At first it started as a joke… but it feels more like an episode of Black mirror.”

He should have spent his life on a deck chair with a mojito in his hand, but Cameron’s curiosity got the better of him.

So the TikToker decided to search the resort from top to bottom in the hopes of finding some life there.

But his quest was not exactly successful.

“Every time I think I see someone not wearing a white uniform I get excited, only to realize there are just more contractors working there. Which, again, was pretty cool, until it wasn’t,” Cameron said.

When Cameron realized that he and his wife were the only guests at the hotel, he began to think about the financial logistics of maintaining the resort.

“How can this place afford all these lights?” he wondered during part of the video.

“How can these fire pits burn for us all day, all night? Who pays for all this? This whole kingdom is just for us.”

After the New York Post contacted the resort about the viral video, it said they could accommodate all requests.

Melissa Wisenbaker said, “Velas Resorts operates at 100 percent regardless of the number of guests actually staying at the resort.

“That is a ratio of 3 guests per staff member, while at many other resorts it is the other way around (3 guests per staff member).”
