Your efforts enable us to divert this waste from landfills, conserving precious resources and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.” The tour offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how Veolia, in collaboration with Brimbank City Council, plays a vital role in diverting organic materials from landfills. The facility boasts state-of-the-art technology and processes an astounding 85,000 tonnes of organic waste annually, servicing 11 North-Western Councils. Participants are cordially invited to embark on this educational and inspiring journey on Wednesday, August 21st, departing from Brimbank Community Civic Centre at 9:30 am. The tour will conclude at 1 pm, with a convenient minibus transport back to the starting point. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, please adhere to the dress code requirements. Closed, flat shoes are mandatory, and clothing that covers the skin, such as long pants and sleeves, is strongly recommended. Brimbank City Council is inviting residents to discover how kerbside food and garden waste is turned into nutrient-rich compost and mulch at Veolia’s Bulla plant.

A council spokesman said the tour would be extremely interesting for locals.

“Small actions like sorting your kitchen and garden waste correctly in your food and garden waste bin can have a big impact. Your food and garden waste can be turned into compost instead of going to landfill. This helps preserve our valuable resources and minimise greenhouse gases,” the spokesperson said.

“Come and discover how the food and garden waste collected at your kerbside is turned into nutrient-rich compost and mulch at Veolia’s Bulla plant using their state-of-the-art technology.”

Veolia is working with the council to divert organic material from landfill. The facility processes 85,000 tonnes of organic material annually from 11 North-Western Councils.

The tour departs from Brimbank Community Civic Centre, 301 Hampshire Road, Sunshine on Wednesday 21st August at 9.30am, returning by minibus at 1pm.

Participants must wear covered, flat shoes, not high heels or sandals. They must also wear suitable clothing that covers the skin, such as long pants and long sleeves.

You will be provided with a safety vest and safety glasses to wear on site.
