At 3 p.m., a delivery driver and a 23-year-old man got into a verbal altercation at 1700 Christian Street that escalated into a physical confrontation, Philadelphia police said. The delivery driver pulled a gun from his van and shot the other man, but neither the 23-year-old nor two children who were nearby were injured, police said.

According to police, the driver was arrested and a weapon was seized.

The 23-year-old works for Sunrise, a contractor for the school system, a district spokesman said. He is not a full-time employee of the district.
