To celebrate this auspicious occasion, Dave McKissock, the newly appointed District Governor of Rotary District 9999, graced the meeting with his presence. He shared his vision for the Rotary year 2024-2025 and presented the club with the prestigious District Change Maker Award trophy. This award recognized the club’s outstanding efforts in leading the fundraising campaign for the swimming pool. The pool has become a valuable resource for the community, providing therapeutic and recreational benefits to residents of all ages. The Hornby Rotary Club celebrated its 4,000th meeting this week.
The club opened in 1962 and has continued to serve the Hornby community with many projects since then, the most recent being the driving force behind the hydrotherapy pool at the Matatiki Hornby Centre.
To celebrate this milestone on Wednesday evening, Dave McKissock, the new District Governor of Rotary District 9999, which covers the South Island, attended the meeting and shared his vision for the Rotary year 2024-2025.
McKissock also presented the club with the District Change Maker Award trophy, which was recently presented to the club at the District Changeover event.
This award was in recognition from the district for the work the club had done for the community by leading the fundraising campaign for the swimming pool.
