CrowdStrike emphasized that the outage was not caused by a cyberattack. Visitors to the DDS website can navigate various pages but are unable to access account logins and utilize online services such as fee payments or license/ID renewals. The outage has had significant repercussions across multiple sectors, affecting airlines, healthcare, emergency services, banks, and television networks.

GEORGIA (WJBF) – The Georgia Department of Driver Services website, dds.georgia.gov, was hit by the worldwide technical outage on Friday.

An announcement bar at the top of the website’s homepage states: “Due to the global Microsoft/CrowdStrike outage, DDS services are unavailable.”

Although visitors can access various pages on the website, they cannot log into accounts and use online services such as paying fees and renewing licenses/IDs.

CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm based in Texas, reported a flaw in one of its security updates for Microsoft Windows devices that led to the outage. CrowdStrike said the software outage was not the result of a cyberattack.
