Shettima, accompanied by Borno Governor Umara Zulum, arrived at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu, where he was welcomed by the governors of Yobe, Imo, and Bauchi states. The programme, which is described as “very large-scale,” is intended to support thousands of farmers across the 17 local governments and 178 constituencies in Yobe State. The Commissioner for Interior, Information, and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, stated that the programme aims to boost agricultural productivity by providing modern agricultural machinery. Furthermore, the programme seeks to improve food security and the economic well-being of the state’s residents. The Vice President and other dignitaries present at the launch expressed optimism that the initiative would significantly contribute to the development of the agricultural sector and the overall progress of Yobe State.

Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, on Saturday to launch an agricultural support programme aimed at improving food security in the state and the country at large.

Shettima, accompanied by Borno Governor Umara Zulum, landed at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu and was received by the governors of Yobe, Imo and Bauchi states.

Others included former Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, Yobe Deputy Governor Alhaji Idi Gubana and Yobe House of Representatives Speaker Buba Chiroma-Mashio and royal fathers.

Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, the state Commissioner for Interior, Information and Culture, described the programme as “very large-scale.”

Bego said it would benefit thousands of farmers in the 17 local governments and 178 constituencies in the state.

He also explained that the objectives of the programme include improving agricultural activities through the distribution and deployment of modern agricultural machinery.

He added that another objective of the programme was to improve food security and economic viability of the people of the state. (NAN)
