The Dutch side were heavy favourites to win the first leg of the second qualifying round tie, but they were unable to break down the resilient Welsh outfit. Band, who joined Twente from FC Utrecht in the summer, played the full 90 minutes at centre-back but was unable to help his team find a breakthrough. Speaking after the match, Band said: “We’re disappointed with the result. We created a lot of chances but we couldn’t score. “TNS defended very well and made it difficult for us to break them down. We need to be more clinical in the second leg. “We know that we’re the better team and we need to show that in the second leg. We need to win the game and we need to score goals.” The second leg of the tie will be played in Enschede on August 11th.
