Western Sydney Wanderers FC today confirmed the extension of Amy Harrison for the next two Liberty A-League/Isuzu UTE A-League seasons.

Harrison is in her fourth season with the club and has shown throughout her career what it means to be a winner. She played a major role in the most successful season in Wanderers A-League Women’s history in 2019 and has won several trophies throughout her career, both internationally and domestically.

Last season Harrison wore the captain’s armband and led the team to some of their most successful performances on the pitch to date, scoring the most goals and having the second best goal difference in Wanderers Women’s Club history.

Harrison is a leader on and off the field and is confident the group will work towards the final and success in the coming season.

“I don’t think we’re done yet, I think we’re just getting started. For the first time since I’ve been here, we’ve got real stability with the staff and with most of the playing group, and I think that’s exciting.”

“I think there’s some really good young talent coming through and I think we’ve got a lot of experience at the other end of the spectrum, so it’s a good fit and I want to be a part of that and keep pushing it forward.”

Head coach Robbie Hooker praised Harrison’s leadership within the group and called her a role model for many of the junior players.

“Amy is the kind of player who sets the standard for the younger members of the group. Both on and off the field, she always pushes them to be better and, most importantly, she leads by example.”

“She brings a lot of quality as a controlled and experienced player, and we hope that quality will also transfer to the less experienced members of our selection.”

Now that Harrison has also been moved to a more defensive role as a centre-back, he sees the coming season as a new challenge that he must fully embrace.

“I’m a big believer in always trying to learn something new, and this has definitely ignited a new fire in me to keep learning and growing… and I think it helps to embrace the role of captain and leader on this team, and it also helps to be a defender and play that role.”

“I think personally I just want to get better every day. As a person, as a leader, as a teammate, as a player for this club. To just continue to be the best version of myself and wherever that takes me, I’m just going to take it step by step, every day.”
