Navi Mumbai: A group of six youths from Owale village were returning from a day-long pilgrimage to Ekveera temple in Lonavala when they were involved in an accident on the old Mumbai-Pune highway on Monday.

The group started their journey on July 21. When they returned in the evening, they stopped at a friend’s house in Talegaon. On Monday, around 2 am, the group resumed their journey. “Initially, Gopal Mali was driving, but after a short break in Lonavala, deceased Ajay Gire took over the wheel. Around 6 am on the old Mumbai-Pune highway, the driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle and overturned, resulting in the death of the driver,” a police officer said.
