According to Belchertown police, officers responded to a disturbance call on Poole Road around 8:44 a.m. Friday. The caller, a woman, reported that her husband had become aggressive and damaged property inside their residence. Upon arrival, police found the woman unharmed outside the home. The man, however, refused to come out and barricaded himself inside. Officers and Massachusetts State Police crisis negotiators were deployed to the scene. After hours of negotiations, the man voluntarily and peacefully left the home. He was taken to the hospital by Belchertown firefighters for evaluation. Belchertown Police Chief Kevin Pacunas stated that the incident was contained to the residence and did not pose any danger to the public.

Belchertown Police Deploy Body Cams

According to Belchertown police, officers were called around 8:44 a.m. Friday to a report of a disturbance on Poole Road. The woman who called said her husband became aggressive and destroyed property in the home.

Officers arrived within 7 minutes of the call and found the woman outside the home, unharmed. The man barricaded himself inside as officers stood back from the residence. Massachusetts State Police crisis negotiators were called and assisted the individual in voluntarily and peacefully leaving the home.

He was taken to the hospital by Belchertown firefighters for evaluation. Belchertown Police Chief Kevin Pacunas said the incident was contained to the residence and there was no danger to the public.
