This increase is particularly noticeable in sectors such as catering, domestic help, cleaning, and sales. Based on seasonal vacancy data on its platform, Indeed reveals a 12% increase in available holiday jobs compared to last year. While exact figures remain confidential, this growth trend has been consistent over the past three years, with a 48% increase since 2020. Catering staff constitutes a significant portion of holiday vacancies, accounting for approximately 25%. Domestic help also has a considerable demand, with 20% of vacancies. According to Stan Snijders, Director of Indeed Benelux, the hospitality sector continues to face high demand for staff during peak periods. The number of holiday jobs in the Netherlands continues to rise. That is the result of Indeed, which claims to be the largest job fair in the Netherlands. Especially catering staff, domestic help, cleaners and sales staff are in demand.

It bases its decision on the number of seasonal vacancies on its platform. According to the website, this supply has increased by 12 percent compared to last year, although exact figures have not been made public.

There was growth last year too, but then it rose by 5 percent. Looking at the last three years, the supply of holiday jobs rose by 48 percent. In 2021, the supply rose by 26 percent, partly due to the lifting of the corona measures.

According to Indeed, a quarter of vacation vacancies are for catering staff. A fifth of vacancies are for domestic staff.

“The demand for hospitality staff remains high during the peak periods of this sector,” explains Stan Snijders, director of Indeed Benelux. “At the same time, we see a growing need for domestic help in nursing homes, for example, where extra hands are needed to ensure continuity during the holidays.”

The site believes that demand for holiday jobs is likely to continue to rise in the foreseeable future, pointing to the current economic conditions and the ongoing shortage of staff in some sectors.
