While details are still emerging about the extent of damage from the wildfires in and around Jasper, photos, a recently shared map, a damage report and updates from Parks Canada provide insight into the condition of many popular hotels and resorts.

Below are some of the travel destinations that have been confirmed to have been affected by the forest fire.

Alpine Village Cabin Resort

The Alpine Village Lodge is located southwest of the town of Jasper and near the Athabasca River. The lodge sustained significant damage from the wildfire.

“Of our 55 cabins, 25 burned completely and another 5 sustained significant damage,” a message on the resort’s website said.

The resort’s main office, a residence on the resort grounds, and the resort’s lodging buildings, laundry facilities and maintenance workshops were not damaged.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

The Fairmont Lodge in Jasper was damaged by the wildfire.

“We can confirm that while the hotel sustained fire damage, the majority of structures at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, including the main lodge, are still standing and intact,” a message on the lodge’s website reads.

“While we will need time to assess the full extent of the damage and the timelines required for repairs and restoration, we are deeply relieved that much of the property was spared and that the resort will reopen in the future.”

Maligne Lodge

Photos from the town of Jasper show the Maligne Lodge hotel was completely destroyed by the wildfire.

“Thank you to everyone who contacted us to share their memories of Maligne Lodge,” reads a message on the lodge’s website. “They mean so much to us and we are so glad we had the opportunity to be a part of your Jasper vacations.”

“At this time, we are monitoring the impact of the bushfire on our sister property, the Tonquin Inn, and are focused on caring for our staff and the Jasper community.”

Tekarra Lodge

Tekarra Lodge, southwest of the town of Jasper, near the Athabasca River, was damaged by the fire.

Before the fire, Tekarra Lodge had 11 cabins available for travelers and vacationers in Jasper.

“We have received confirmation from Parks Canada that the fire has unfortunately affected the grounds of Tekarra Lodge,” a message on the lodge’s website reads. “Preliminary assessments indicate that we have lost several structures including the reception area, the main restaurant building and several cabins. However, the full extent of the damage is still unclear. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.”

Mountain Robson Inn

According to a damage report from the City of Jasper, Mount Robson Inn was destroyed.

Photos show that the Athabasca Hotel, a Jasper landmark, was not damaged.

According to a damage report from the municipality, the Lobstick Lodge, Marmot Lodge, Forest Park Hotel and Chateau Jasper show no visible damage.
