Rapper Big Deal, aka Samir Rishu Mohanty, recently shared a touching story about his parents on Instagram, showcasing their enduring love and legacy. Mohanty, who was born to an Indian father and a Japanese mother, highlighted how their romance led to the creation of a beloved hotel in PureOdisha.

In the video posted on Instagram, Mohanty narrates how his mother, a Japanese national, first visited Puri during her college days while travelling the world. Fascinated by the city, she decided to settle there after her graduation and focus on finishing her book. “She liked Puri a lot. So, after graduation, she wanted to settle in Puri and continue writing books. But everyone needs a source of income. So, she wanted to build a hotel for Japanese tourists,” Mohanty explained in Odia.

However, due to her status as a foreigner, Mohanty’s mother had difficulty acquiring land for her hotel. It was during this period that she met Mohanty’s father. The couple eventually got married and entered into a partnership to set up the hotel, which they named ‘Love and Life’. This establishment remains a landmark in Puri to this day. “Together, they became business partners when they built the hotel and named it ‘Love and Life’. This hotel still stands in Puri,” Mohanty shared. “It is a testament to the love story of my mother and father. It is true that some love stories last a lifetime,” he added.
