The Essendon woman had no idea she had all the winning numbers on her ticket, which led to scepticism when she answered a call from lottery officials this morning.
“Really? No way! No way!” she cheered.
“Is this a joke? A scam?
“I’ve been playing this ticket for years and years, maybe six years. I took over the numbers from my father when he passed away and I’ve been playing them ever since.
“Funnily enough, Dad’s numbers always came up in the draws. I always have small wins here and there with his numbers.
“We always joked that with his numbers he probably already won, but we never told him that!
“I got a phone call over the weekend but I thought it was a scam so I just let it go.
“What a way to start the week!
“I’m going to divide it and share it with my family.
“Thank you so much.”
Her winning 12-game ticket was purchased at North Essendon Lotto, 7 Leake Street, Essendon.
