He emphasized the significance of fair evaluations for candidates who excel in written examinations. In a separate meeting, President Zardari advocated for financial autonomy and improved access to financial services and credit for women. He believes that empowering women financially will enhance their economic well-being, benefit their families, and contribute to the national economy. Banks, the President suggested, should support women entrepreneurs and increase their representation in the banking industry. He was briefed on Standard Chartered Bank’s contributions to Pakistan’s economic growth, banking sector development, and socio-economic progress.
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday called for increasing the quota for women and minorities in government positions to enhance their inclusion in society, ARY News reported.
Addressing a delegation of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), led by senior member Akbar Hussain Durrani, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Zardari directed the commission to further improve the recruitment process for civil servants, a press statement issued by the President House said.
The President said that with the improved recruitment system, the “right person for the right” job will be selected. He urged the need to make the recruitment process more efficient and transparent by adopting modern technology and new methods, especially computer-based tests, which would help in selecting qualified and efficient civil servants.
President Zardari said the FPSC has an important responsibility in recruiting civil servants, improving service delivery and promoting good governance in the country.
The President said that candidates who score high in the written exam should be judged fairly.

Akbar Hussain Durrani, the senior member of the FPSC, briefed the President about the role and function of the commission in recruiting government servants. He also highlighted certain issues faced by the FPSC.
President Zardari assured the delegation of his support and guidance in resolving the problems and improving the recruitment system.
Earlier, the President called for financial autonomy for women and improved access to financial services and credit to encourage female entrepreneurs.
The President spoke to Bill Winters, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), who was visiting Aiwan-e-Sadr with his delegation. He said that economic empowerment of women would not only make them financially stronger but would also help improve their families and contribute to the national economy.
He said banks should support women entrepreneurs and increase their representation in the banking sector.
The delegation briefed the President about the contributions of the SCB to the economy of Pakistan, development and evolution of the banking sector and socio-economic development of the country.
