Hamilton’s Triumphant Record and the Quest for F1 DominanceHamilton’s Triumphant Record and the Quest for F1 Dominance Lewis Hamilton’s victory at the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix marked a historic milestone in his illustrious career. Not only did it secure his 105th Grand Prix win, but it also etched his name into Formula 1 history as the fourth oldest driver to win two races in a single championship season. This remarkable feat, achieved 57 years after the last time an older driver accomplished it, cements Hamilton’s status as one of F1’s most elite. His unwavering passion for the sport and his relentless pursuit of greatness were evident in his determination to overcome adversity and emerge victorious. Hamilton’s aspirations extend beyond mere victory, however. His upcoming alliance with Ferrari from 2025 suggests that he harbors ambitions to establish himself as the greatest F1 driver of all time. A championship with the legendary Scuderia would solidify his statistical superiority and leave an unparalleled legacy in the annals of motorsport. Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert has expressed his belief that Hamilton’s potential for further dominance is limitless. Should he secure an unprecedented eighth world title, Herbert predicts that the Briton could continue to accumulate victories, possibly reaching double digits. Despite facing challenges of late, Ferrari remains poised to close the gap to its rivals and emerge as a title contender. With the 2026 regulations on the horizon, Hamilton’s chances of making history appear brighter than ever. His experience, talent, and the potential of his new partnership with the Scuderia could propel him to new heights, leaving an enduring mark on the sport of Formula 1.

Lewis Hamilton inherited his 105th Grand Prix victory at the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix last weekend. After teammate George Russell was disqualified for driving an underweight car, the #44 driver, who finished second just 0.5 seconds behind the #63 driver, was promoted to P1. But his latest triumph has firmly placed him among F1’s most elite.

In fact, according to Formula Passion, the 39-year-old also broke a long-standing F1 record, 57 years to be exact. Hamilton’s victory at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps was his second win of the 2024 season – his first coming at the British Grand Prix.

This makes him the fourth oldest driver to win two races in a single championship season. The last time a driver won two races in the same year and was older than Hamilton was Australian Jack Brabham. Brabham (then 41 years old) won the 1967 French and Canadian GPs to finish third on the list.

The oldest drivers to achieve a double victory over the age of 39 are Juan Manuel Fangio and Giuseppe Farina respectively. By 2025, the seven-time world champion will be racing into his forties and although he has struggled of late, his passion for that eighth world title is greater than ever.

Lewis Hamilton hopes to win multiple titles with Ferrari

Hamilton will form an iconic alliance with Ferrari from next year, and his current form suggests that if the Scuderia can get their package right, the #44 driver is one of the favourites to challenge for the title in 2025.

A championship with Ferrari would make Hamilton statistically the best F1 driver ever. And according to former F1 driver Johnny Herbert, if the Briton can achieve the unprecedented feat of winning eight world titles, there will be no stopping him.

Sports Illustrated quoted Herbert as saying: “If he can take eighth, there’s a good chance he can take ninth and tenth, because if they do well, Ferrari can keep that momentum going into future seasons.”

Despite a slight dip in performance, Ferrari is still expected to close the gap to Mercedes and McLaren in 2025. And with the 2026 regulations in sight, Hamilton’s chances of challenging for the title in the future look bright.
