St. Louis Symphony’s New Music Director NamedSt. Louis Symphony’s New Music Director Named The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra has appointed Jonathon Heyward as its new Music Director, effective with the 2023-2024 season. Heyward becomes the Symphony’s 14th Music Director, succeeding Stéphane Denève, who served from 2005 to 2022. Heyward, 44, is an acclaimed conductor and violinist who has held positions with the Seattle Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. He is currently the Music Director of the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Canada. In a statement, the St. Louis Symphony’s President and CEO Marie-Hélène Bernard said, “We are thrilled to welcome Jonathon Heyward as our next Music Director.
