Albany Symphony Announces Appointment of New Artistic DirectorAlbany Symphony Announces Appointment of New Artistic Director The Albany Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Geoffrey McDonald as its new Artistic Director, effective with the 2023-2024 season. McDonald, a renowned conductor and music educator, brings a wealth of experience and a passionate commitment to artistic excellence to the orchestra. McDonald has served as the Music Director of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra since 2016, where he has led innovative programming and community outreach initiatives. Under his baton, the orchestra has expanded its repertoire, premiered new works, and collaborated with renowned soloists and composers. Prior to his time in Tucson, McDonald held positions as Associate Conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
