The Health Sciences Academy is a welcome addition to SD73’s diverse range of alternative learning programs.House Explosion Leaves One Injured in Garden CityHouse Explosion Leaves One Injured in Garden City On Saturday evening, around 7:00 pm, the Garden City Fire Department responded to a house explosion at 802 West Fair Street. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a home that had suffered extensive damage from the blast. Debris was scattered in a wide radius around the property. One individual was injured in the explosion and transported to St. Catherine Hospital by Finney County EMS. Black Hills Energy was called to the scene to shut off gas in the area, and the City of Garden City Electric Department attended to a faulty power line. The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office has been notified and is assisting in the investigation. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. Fair Street is currently closed between 9th Street and 11th Street, and 10th Street is closed between Fair and Hamline Street while the investigation is ongoing.
